Description
A recent study has shed light on the growing housing affordability crisis, revealing that the income required to purchase a median-priced home in the United States has surged by 50% since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of today, Americans now need an annual income of about $117,000 to qualify for a mortgage on a median-priced home—a dramatic increase from pre-pandemic levels.
"We found, no surprise, that the housing affordability squeeze keeps tightening," said Jeff Ostrowski, an analyst with Bankrate.com, which just released the results of its study.
