Description
A man already serving a 36-year sentence for raping an Indiana University student, who died from a fentanyl overdose, is taking a plea in a separate rape case.
Eric Manual Montgomery, of Bloomington, is charged with raping a neighbor in Ellettsville in August 2021.
Under the plea deal, Montgomery would serve 10 years for the rape concurrent with the 36-year sentence he is already serving.
Montgomery pleaded guilty to rape on March 13, 2025. His sentencing is set for March 27.
In the 2021 incident, the woman told police at the time that Montgomery had called and asked to come over because he was upset about a friend that had been killed.
In court documents, the woman told investigators Montgomery asked to be held while he cried and then began assaulting the victim and raping her.
