Description
A 34-year-old man was charged Wednesday with murder after a fatal shooting outside a south Indianapolis restaurant Friday night. Court documents show an off-duty IMPD officer was holding the suspect down moments before the killing.
On March 5, Randy Godfrey, of Greenfield, was formally charged with murder in the death of 32-year-old Robert Blaine Smith, according to online court records.
The next day, the judge in his case entered a preliminary plea of not guilty at an initial hearing for Godfrey and set no bond. A pretrial conference was scheduled for May 7, with a jury trial scheduled to begin May 14.
