The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office has ruled homicide as the cause in the deaths of two women at an apartment complex in Lafayette.
The Lafayette Police Department responded to an apartment located in the 100 block of Cochise Trail, near Interstate 65 and South Street, on a report of a possible death around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1. When officers arrived on the scene, they found two women who were dead.
Police said detectives recovered shell casings and a small-caliber firearm at the scene. Based on the evidence, investigators don't believe this was a random act.
The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office identified the two victims as 34-year-old Laportia Shenett and 28-year-old Kadeisha Ross. Both women were from Lafayette and had been shot.
