Tarkington Park is set to get new amenities in a $3 million project planned to begin in 2025. The project will include a multi-use football and soccer field, a walking path, and new pickleball and tennis courts. The football field will be named in honor of Richard "Coach Nell" Hamilton to honor his legacy of coaching and mentoring youth. Hamilton was shot and killed in an apparent road rage shooting on Jan. 11, 2023, on Interstate 65, near Greenwood.
