Description
Police in Monroe County needed several hours and a specialized team of officers to arrest a person who was being sought on warrants.
According to a sheriff's department spokesperson, police dispatchers got a tip Friday, Feb. 7 that the man was staying at a hotel in the 1300 block of South Liberty Drive in Bloomington. Officers learned the man was wanted on earlier allegations of failing to register as a sex offender and resisting law enforcement.
(NOTE: 13News does not name suspects in cases until formal charges are filed by prosecutors.)
Deputies determined the man and his 87-year-old mother were in the room, along with a small dog. When officers knocked and announced themselves early Friday afternoon, no one answered but a dog started barking.
