Description
Indiana's attorney general is suing the St. Joseph County Police Department over its handling of undocumented immigrants. Under Indiana law, local and state officials must cooperate with federal immigration enforcement officials. But Attorney General Todd Rokita says the St. Joseph County Police Department has refused to that. Rokita said the police department does not properly notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) about the release of undocumented immigrants and refuses to honor ICE detainers. St. Joseph County is the latest to be accused of violations. Rokita recently sued Monroe County on the same grounds.
