A reserve officer with the Sheridan Police Department allegedly fired a non-department-issued gun while on duty at a private gun range Sunday afternoon, resulting in a stray bullet striking a nearby house.
According to a social media post from the police department, around 12:30 p.m. Jan. 19, the department received a call about shots being fired in the Maple Run subdivision, near East 236th Street and Mule Barn Road.
After responding and making sure no one was injured, the responding officer then contacted his immediate supervisor to inform them that the shots fired run involved him.
