After its first season as an Indiana High School Athletic Association sanctioned sport, girls wrestling will soon boast state champions. The sport, along with boys volleyball, was fully recognized by the IHSAA in 2024. According to the association, more than 1,4000 student athletes represent 177 girls wrestling teams across the state.
