Description
Indy DPW crews have been hard at work plowing snow and treating about 4,000 lane miles of thoroughfares and secondary streets. More snow is expected Friday.
Of the department's 70 trucks, 13 were sidelined due to mechanical issues.
"We're pushing this equipment really hard. These are 35,000-pound trucks and we're running them around the clock. Issues are bound to happen. Maybe a truck has a flat tire. Maybe the salt hopper gets jammed and we have to bring it in for service and so that number is going to fluctuate throughout a snow fight of this length," said Kyle Bloyd, chief communications officer with the Department of Public Works.
