IMPD re-arrested an 18-year-old who was shot inside Castleton Square Mall two days before Christmas.
The man was initially arrested on a preliminary charge of felony intimidation with a deadly weapon for his alleged involvement in the shooting. Police told 13News he is not believed to be the shooter, though.
On Dec. 30, the Marion County Prosecutor's Office said, "The State does not intend to file any charges against the defendant at this time."
On Jan. 8, IMPD North District confirmed officers re-arrested the 18-year-old for his alleged role in the shooting at the mall.
"Detectives identified additional evidence including the identification of the alleged victim of the intimidation," IMPD wrote in a release posted on social media.
IMPD said the North District's Violence Reduction Team and Violent Crimes Task Force located the 18-year-old in Avon on Tuesday, Jan. 7. He was arrested for intimidation with a deadly weapon.
Officers also arrested another 18-year-old – who was 17 years old at the time of the Castleton Square Mall shooting – on a preliminary charge of dangerous possession of a firearm.
