Guys if we're being honest, a lot of us avoid going to the doctor unless we absolutely have to!
A study by the Cleveland Clinic found nearly two-thirds of men say they put it off "as long as possible."
Dr. Omar Acevedo, a family medicine physician with Franciscan Health, says he's seen this in his own practice.
"I think there's a cultural aspect to it," Acevedo said. "I think men — we are made to feel like 'why should I go if I don't feel bad?'"
Acevedo said the problem is that it can keep doctors from detecting issues early that might have been prevented in the first place.
That is why 13News is launching "Real Men Wear Gowns," a year-long campaign to encourage men to make their health a priority.
