Indiana State Police is investigating a deadly police shooting that happened in Carroll County early Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 12:20 a.m. Dec. 24, Cass County sheriff's deputies responded to a home in the 3000 block of West County Road 500 South on a report of two people who had been stabbed. The address was just over the county line in Carroll County.
When deputies arrived, they found one victim and started administering life-saving measures.
While getting additional medical supplies from their patrol vehicle, a deputy saw a man armed with knives, who was later identified as 35-year-old Christopher S. Evans, of Logansport.
Police said Evans didn't comply with the deputy's commands and instead charged at the deputy, who fired his weapon, hitting Evans at least once.
Medics pronounced Evans dead at the scene.
