Description
Tuesday morning, IMPD announced the arrest of an 18-year-old after a shooting inside Castleton Square Mall on the city's northeast side Monday evening during a busy holiday shopping period. A man was shot in the incident.
The man who was arrested faces a preliminary charge of felony intimidation with a deadly weapon for his alleged involvement in the shooting. Police told 13News he is not believed to be the shooter, though.
"This arrest came just a few short hours after the incident occurred," an IMPD spokesperson said in a statement. "Detectives believe all individuals were known to each other and were involved in a disturbance when the shooting occurred."
Police were called to the mall, off East 82nd Street near Interstate 465, around 8:30 p.m. Dec. 23 by off-duty officers working security there. The mall was immediately evacuated after the gunfire.
