An investigation is underway after a fire killed a 26-year-old man and caused damage to an apartment complex in Greenwood on Sunday, Dec. 8. The Greenwood Fire Department was dispatched to the 400 block of Clearview Drive in the Clearview Apartments, near U.S. 31 North and County Road 900 North, for a report of an explosion just after 11 a.m. Dec. 8. On Dec. 23, the Johnson County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as 26-year-old Jonathan Gerardo Ramirez Prieto. His cause and manner of death are still pending the completion of the fire investigation by the Greenwood Fire Department, Greenwood Police Department and Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office. When fire crews arrived on scene, they found a single-story home on fire. An evacuation was already in progress. The fire department said there was a total of eight units in the complex, and six were evacuated.
