Description
For the first time, we're hearing from a local fire chief about his emotional journey after an unexpected cancer diagnosis.
Eric Funkhouser, the chief of both the Whiteland and Bargersville fire departments, had surgery to remove a brain tumor in September. And now, he's back on the job.
Funkhouser is sharing the story of his road back to health and his thanks to the community who helped during his remarkable recovery.
Funkhouser says it's a miracle he's walking, talking and working again at the fire station in Bargersville, just 62 days after doctors performed a craniotomy, removing a cancerous tumor from his brain.
"The best case scenario for everything that we'd hoped for, you know, came true in the end," Funkhouser said.
