Description
Did you hear a loud boom or see a bright flash in the sky Tuesday morning? Well, you're not alone.
At around 4 a.m. Dec. 10, videos and reports of the boom started flooding in across central Indiana. Our 13Meteorologists believe that the stunning sight is most likely a meteor from the annual Geminid meteor shower!
It's one of the best and brightest celestial displays of the year and is expected to peak on Friday. Typically, the meteor shower takes the spotlight around mid-December.
During peak activity and with clear skies, up to 120 meteors per hour are visible. According to NASA, under good conditions, you may even see a meteor every minute.
