A man is dead and woman is in critical condition after a shooting Monday inside an Indianapolis apartment building. It happened around 6:30 p.m. in the 4400 block of East Washington Street, near North Sherman Drive. Officers arrived to find a man, later identified as 26-year-old Walter Lockhart Jr., and a woman who had been shot. The victims were taken to the hospital in critical condition, and Lockhart was pronounced dead a short time later. Police believe an argument preceded the gunfire. IMPD said three people were in custody following the shooting. They added there is no danger to the public and that the shooting was an isolated incident.
