IMPD on Wednesday announced the arrest of one of its own officers for domestic battery in the presence of a child.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26, around 9 p.m., the Whiteland Police Department responded to the 200 block of Country Wood Drive, near U.S. 31 and County Road 600 North, "following a report of domestic violence," IMPD said in a statement the next morning. "During the investigation, officers determined the complainant had been battered and restrained."
The officer, a seven-year veteran of IMPD who was currently assigned to the department's east district, was arrested on one preliminary count of domestic battery and one preliminary count of strangulation, the department said.
