IMPD is investigating after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on Indy's northwest side Monday morning. Police believe the driver fled the scene.
Around 6:30 a.m. Sept. 30, officers responded to a report of a person down in the 4000 block of North High School Road, near 38th Street.
When they arrived on scene, police found a woman who had been struck by a vehicle but could not find the suspect vehicle that was responsible. Medics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
"It's happened all too often this year," IMPD Ofc. Tommy Thompson said. “If you are involved in this or if it’s an accident, just stay on scene, please.”
The road was shut down from Gateway Drive to Commons Drive for several hours during the investigation.
