Description
Part of one of the most traveled corridors in central Indiana is back open after being closed for nearly eight months.
INDOT confirmed the Interstate 69 North ramp to 82nd Street opened Tuesday night, moving drivers onto new pavement and a new bridge on I-69 North.
According to INDOT, drivers will now be able to access 82nd Street when traveling from I-465 North to I-69 North.
Derrick Woods, executive general manager at Charleston's Restaurant, said his business definitely took a hit during the construction.
"Individuals coming from downtown, they can't access 82nd Street, so they have to go up to 96th Street and loop around. And a lot of guests don't really want that inconvenience. Coming from the north side is extremely bad. It's a lot of traffic," Woods said.
At this time, drivers cannot get to 82nd Street from Binford Boulevard or I-465 East.
This is part of INDOT's Clear Path 465 project that aims to improve safety and traffic flow on both I-465 and I-69 on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
