Five people were killed after their SUV was struck by a train Wednesday night in northwest Indiana.
According to a release from the Gary Police Department, around 10 p.m. on June 25, officers were called to the intersection of U.S. 20 and Utah Street in response to a crash involving a train and a vehicle.
When first responders arrived, they found five people, who had been ejected from a severely damaged SUV, dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation showed their SUV was struck by a South Shore Line train.
