Imagine how far we'd be behind had Lilly Ledbetter not made her voice heard in the late 1990s.
Three-time Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson ("Pieces of April," "Six Feet Under") stars in "Lilly," a biopic about the activist who fought for equal pay while working as a supervisor at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. — learning from an anonymous source that she was making significantly less than her male counterparts.
"She still kept fighting, and for almost 10 years, she was on the ropes, but she still kept fighting, and finally, a lot of great people in Congress started to believe in her," Clarkson said. "President Obama signed into office the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. It was the first bill he passed when he became president."
"Lilly" is now available to buy or rent on digital platforms.
