A former Kokomo police officer is now facing federal charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and lying to state investigators in an attempt to hide the assault. Sinmi Asomuyide was indicted Thursday on two counts by a federal grand jury in Indianapolis. The first count charges that Asomuyide sexually assaulted the girl, depriving her of her constitutional rights, and that he kidnapped the girl.
