On July 28, 2025, gunfire erupted near the valet area of the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, killing three people and injuring three others. Reno police have now released bodycam footage showing the chaos as a patrol vehicle was struck by multiple rounds before officers shot the suspect, 26-year-old Dakota Hawver. Authorities say Hawver fired about 80 rounds before being taken down. Victims include 66-year-old Angel Martinez and two Southern California men, Andrew Canepa and Justin Agulia, who were in town for a bachelor party. Police say there is no known motive.
