Description
The National Hurricane Center is tracking two areas in the Atlantic now that Gabrielle has become post-tropical. Hurricane Humberto and Invest 94-L are now the main focus.
As of the latest advisory, Humberto is centered over the central Atlantic, moving sluggishly to the northwest at about 5 mph. The storm is expected to rapidly strengthen over the weekend, now forecast to become a major Category 3 storm by tomorrow.
Rapid intensification is forecast with Humberto over the next 24 hours. The storm is forecast to go from a category 1 to a major category 3 storm in less than 24 hours. Humberto is then forecast to become a major category 4 hurricane with winds of 145mph by Sunday.
While it poses no direct threat to the U.S., Bermuda should continue to watch the system closely as it may pass nearby early to mid-week next week.
