Description
A woman was shot and killed during a Friday afternoon standoff at a home in Homosassa, according to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies first responded around 9 a.m. to a house off South Palmer Avenue after a report of a domestic disturbance involving gunfire. When they arrived, they heard additional gunshots and worked quickly to secure the area.
Officials say a boy who was inside the home at the time was able to safely escape to a home nearby and provided investigators with critical information.
According to a preliminary investigation, CCSO says Michael McClellan, 37, was armed inside the home and had possibly shot a woman, who was believed to still be held hostage inside.
