Description
Sept. 1 on The Story: If there's been one narrative to come of the Oregon special legislative session that began Friday, it's one of glacially slow and oft-disorderly progress, made in fits and starts. Lawmakers accomplished next to nothing on Friday, seeming to struggle to obtain a quorum. They then adjourned until Sunday. On Sunday, after taking more public comment on the nascent transportation funding bill that brought them there, lawmakers finally voted to advance the bill from committee and onto the House floor. Today, the House narrowly passed a slightly slimmed-down bill with the bare number of votes needed for legislation which raises taxes. And now, any action in the Senate won't happen until Tuesday.
