Aug. 29 on The Story: This morning marked the start of a long-awaited special legislative session meant to untangle the knot left behind when Oregon lawmakers failed to pass a bill that would fund the state's transportation needs earlier this year. While Democrats, Republicans and even ODOT workers had chances to say their piece about what that bill should look like, the session itself appeared to get off to a false start. Hearings were delayed and delayed and delayed. There certainly wasn't a vote on any legislation. And, as if to underscore the absurdity of the day's proceedings, clown noses rained down upon the floor of the legislative chamber.
