An Indianapolis mother was sentenced after her 2-year-old son accidentally shot and killed himself on the northeast side of Indianapolis. The shooting happened on Feb. 27, 2024, in the 3700 block of North Dearborn Street, near East 38th Street and North Sherman Drive. When police arrived on scene, they found 2-year-old Jarel Miles had been shot and was in critical condition. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died the next day. According to official court documents, officers observed the mother, Tiara Reeves, on the phone saying, "He got into my purse... he got a hold to the gun... what did I do?"
