"America's Got Talent" just crowned its newest champion: singer-songwriter Jessica Sanchez, who is nine months pregnant and expecting her first child with her husband.
"I'm just on cloud nine. It's been so amazing. I'm just feeling immensely blessed," Sanchez said less than 12 hours after host Terry Crews announced her as the winner over freestyle rapper Chris Turner. "I think it's just overwhelming, just all of the amazing things that are happening right now."
And this isn't Sanchez's first time on the talent competition show. At 10 years old, she was on the first season but was eliminated before the semifinals. Twenty years later, she's $1 million richer and a champion.
"When I first hit the stage, I was 10 years old, and I was completely devastated when I didn't make it through. I was like, 'This is the end of my career,'" Sanchez said. "I found the fire and the fight to keep continue going and believing in my dreams, and throughout those years, I've accumulated a lot of experiences of feeling like a failure and feeling like this is not gonna happen for me, and those moments really made this moment even more impactful than it could ever have been."
