A Purdue University graduate and Columbus, Indiana native is one of 10 candidates chosen for NASA's latest astronaut class, announced during a ceremony at the Johnson Space Center in Houston Monday morning.
Yuri Kubo, 40, was selected from roughly 8,000 other candidates.
"I made it through the first round, miraculously made it through the second round, and here we are today," Kubo said.
