IMPD believes a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed during a party at The Grounds in a short-term rental apartment.
Apartment management told a tenant earlier this year it does not permit personal Airbnb’s, but there are some corporate leases that rent out to short-term rentals.
On Jan. 1, Indianapolis began requiring property owners to apply for a permit for each short-term rental unit they own. It’s a one-time $150 fee, but the permit must be renewed annually. Each property then gets listed on the short-term rental registry, publicly viewable online.
