INDOT on Tuesday, Aug. 12 announced the closure of the Lafayette Road bridge over Interstate 465, near Interstate 65 on Indianapolis' northwest side. The agency said issues with steel beams on the north side of the bridge were discovered during a recent damage inspection. "Crews are working diligently to investigate and correct the issues," INDOT said in a statement. INDOT said no timeline for the reopening of the bridge has been determined, and drivers will need to find an alternative route during the repairs.
