Description
Imelda strengthened into a category 1 hurricane Tuesday morning. While the storm’s center should stay away from the Southeast U.S., coastal areas may still feel some effects — periods of rain, breezy winds, and higher surf. Forecasts suggest Imelda could pass close to Bermuda on Wednesday as a hurricane before heading into the open northern Atlantic and gradually weakening.
Farther out in the Atlantic, Humberto has weakened to a Category 2 hurricane. The system is curving northeast and will remain over open water, with no direct land impacts expected this week.
