Police arrested a man named Marcus Augustine, who lived in a nearby halfway house and matched a description given by a witness. However a month and a half later, another man came forward and told a public defender he had reason to believe his roommate, Donnie Ray Lindsey, had committed the crime. Augustine was released and Lindsey was arrested and convicted.
